About Us

HISTORY

In 2004, Alice Cameron imported her first four warmblood mares, two in foal, and Oaks Sport Horses was born.

These mares were by the great foundation sires, Darco, Jalisco B, Cassini I and Papillon Rouge; all have equally strong dam lines. Three of these mares went into the sport, with two jumping World Cup; they helped set the standard for warmbloods in Australia.

Mares have been the base strength and focus of the Oaks breeding program. High quality frozen semen was available in Australia from prominent and successful sires such as Kannan, Chacco Blue, Clearway, Emerald and over the years many imported mares have joined our broodmare herd.

In recent years, stallions have been added to enhance our breeding program to ensure diversity and access to chilled semen: Holsteiner Casting, by Catoki, and Oaks-bred Quizzical, by Quintender. We also have an interest in Cristello, the Numero Uno x Voltaire stallion successfully campaigned in 5*Grand Prix and Nations Cup by Denis Lynch and have frozen semen available.

Oaks is a selective stud, small by world standards. Over 70% of the Oaks horses born have been registered and are competing at all levels for their owners – a testament to the rearing, nurturing, and handling skills of our stud team. Many horses bearing the recognisable oak leaf brand are now competing in Europe and the USA.

We are proud to have bred 5 horses that have represented Australia at World Championships, World Cup Final and Nations Cups – all five are direct descendants of the original mares. One of the direct descendants is Oaks Milky Way, who is produced and campaigned by Alice’s daughter, Hilary Scott. Hilary, who has stables in Valkenswaard, Netherlands has taken Oaks Sport Horses to the northern hemisphere.

PURPOSE & PASSION

Our goal is to breed elite jumping horses and produce them as naturally as possible. We want our horses to compete at the top level. Equally important are soundness, courage, carefulness and character.

We want the best of each horse, to develop strong and respectful partnerships with its rider, and to assist riders who aspire to being in tune with their equine partner.
