Oaks Come by Chance in Ocala

Almost three months of competition at the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit has wrapped up with a sensational performance by Dave Cameron and Oaks Come By Chance on the last day. The Cassiago x Oaks Milky Way by Clearway gelding placed fourth in the US$300,000 Great American Grand Prix, in a field which had a very strong Australian Influence.

It has been a very promising season for this pair, who helped Australia to a sixth placing in a Nations Cup event just a few weeks ago in Florida, however it was in this rich Grand Prix, over an extremely testing course, that they probably produced their best performance of the season. With 38 of the best combinations around turning out for the competition, it was always going to be a tough assignment, however Dave Cameron and Oaks Come By Chance rose to the occasion admirably.

They were one of just five combinations who produced clear rounds to get into a jump-off. In the jump-off they negotiated the whole course successfully, except for the first part of the double, ending up on a total of 4 faults and a time of 46.217 seconds was enough to secure fourth place. For their efforts, they were awarded US$24,000.
